Calcium and Cholesterol

Should we take Calcium supplements? 

For years we’ve not sold Calcium on its own because of the risk of calcification of the arteries.

But a recent meta-analysis study including a total of 22 trials, representing 4071 participants concluded that Calcium supplementation has beneficial effect on blood lipids. Either Calcium or Calcium with D may be useful as a non pharmaceutical strategy in cholesterol control, reducing LDL levels and increasing HDL. Happy lipids.

Evidence supports what we always talk about in store – food and lifestyle is the primary way of effecting cholesterol.

I think we’ll still be recommending a multi mineral with Calcium instead of Calcium on its own. But this is interesting to read. To read more follow the link below
